Neighborhoods Truckee Downtown & Gateway Truckee is a fantastic recreational area set in the beautiful high Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation of six thousand feet. A beautiful forested region filled with lakes, streams, meadows, trails, parks, campgrounds, and all-season resorts in a spectacular alpine setting. The Truckee downtown area is the business hub of the High Sierra, as well as the transportation center for the district. Many seasonal events attract vacationers and second home residents to the area, Truckee’s Historic Downtown is a enchanting spot for shops, restaurants, music spots, and a visitor’s center. Just a 25-minute commute to Reno, Glenshire is very popular with full-time residents. The Glenshire community features the area’s newest elementary school opened in 1996. There are approximately 1400 lots. The residence mix is approximately 80% full-time residents and 20% second homeowners. Truckee Sanitary District sewer, Southwest natural gas, Truckee Donner PUD for water and Sierra Pacific for power, serves the area. The Glenshire Homeowner Association amenities include a swimming pool, wading pool, clubhouse, equestrian easements, and tennis courts. All positioned around the beautiful Glenshire Pond. For more information you can visit www.GlenshireDevonshire.com Sierra Meadows / Ponderosa Palisades / Martiswoods Estates / Olympic Heights These areas make up many several neighborhoods that are conveniently located nearer the Truckee Airport, Northstar-at-Tahoe and Downtown Truckee and accessible from Brockway Road (Old Hwy 267). Many sites are nicely wooded with some views, and offer a quiet neighborhood for those wanting more natural surroundings. Sierra Meadows has a homeowners association with tennis courts and pool and Ponderosa Fairway neighborhood surrounds a 9-hole golf course. Ponderosa Ranchos is zoned for horses and is located close to miles of riding trails. The Ponderosa Ranchos and Martiswoods Estates neighborhoods offer 1-acre home sites with underground utilities. These subdivisions are served mostly by private septic systems, Southwest for natural gas and Truckee Donner PUD for power and water. Olympic Heights is comprised of nearly 200 parcels that are primarily quarter acre lots. Located between downtown Truckee and Glenshire and located on a sunny south-facing hill off Glenshire Drive, Olympic Heights offers some incredible views of the Martis Valley, Northstar-At-Tahoe ski resort and the train route. A few vacant lots remain in this smaller subdivision and many properties in the area receive all day sun.. Prosser Lakeview / Prosser Heights and Pannonia Ranchos / Russell Valley Located off of Highway 89 North, this area offers a quieter side of Truckee with lots of mature trees and plentiful snowfall. Close to Prosser Lake, this beautifully wooded area offers access to fishing and camping and miles of mountain biking and equestrian trails. Most properties located on Prosser Dam Road and in Pannonia Ranchos are zoned for horses.
